Paul is in his 40’s, is originally from California, and now lives in Portland, OR. He is, most definitely, a “Nerd’s Nerd.” He can recite huge tracts of Monty Python, can force Star Wars quotes into nearly any conversation, finds serenity amongst fireflies, enjoys hitchhiking to the beach with his towel in hand, has found precious little to dislike about Tolkien, and finds any argument favoring Picard over Kirk to be both fascinating and illogical- since the answer is obviously Sisko.
Paul’s foundation in Science Fiction began with Asimov, but Heinlein’s wit brought it to the front of his conscious. Although Paul is still recovering from the amount of time he spent wheeling through Jordan and Sanderson’s epic, he has found long series, such as Scalzi’s, no longer make him feel like an old man. Paul has always had a love of comics, particularly the far side of Bloom County where Calvin lived, often casting pearls before swine whilst doing the foxtrot over the hedge. Even though Paul had 2 wonderful puppy-dogs he loved, Zack and Satia, he can’t help but think how awesome having a magical creature would be; even if he does worry that caring for it would leave him feeling hagrid.
Paul is more comfortable tweeting than facebooking, and isn’t athletic enough to be a tumblr (But was instantly taken by the photographic potential of Instagram). He is also an airplane nerd and a licensed, albeit not-current, pilot. He has traveled enough to know he wants to travel more, has read, cover to cover, The Bible, Koran, Book of Mormon, Science and Health, and a smattering of Eastern philosophies, and was one of the early board members of Cerimon House. He can bake bread from scratch, grill, and cook; and has failed, miserably, in learning at least 4 different computer languages.
Paul writes, commits photography, and is learning the ins and out of drawing and illustration. He has long straddled that shady realm between the wholly physical and utterly imaginative, and is working towards taking up residence in the latter. He is an expert in all forms of philosophocating, but finds it best done with open eyes, compassion, and humor.
Paul has also been known to make the occasional pun.
“..make the occasional pun….”? A grievous understatement, I think…. HA!
A moment of modesty, I assure you it won’t happen again!
I’m the farker guy with the underwater olympus.
