I did this photowalk almost a year ago, but completely forgot to upload it! And no, not that Hollywood, but The Hollywood District in NE Portland, one of the city’s venerable neighborhoods. It is absolutely rife with gardens, older homes, and copious amounts of personality. I have also come to find that it is currently struggling to maintain its character. With housing prices increasing, and space becoming ever more limited, a lot of the homes being sold are being converted into either apartments or condos. I am too far removed to really understand all the nuances, but I cannot help but think that change is going to be coming one way or another. Hopefully the neighborhood will not wholly lose itself in the upheaval, and it’s unique vibe remains.
